Designing A Baseball Team From the Dirt Up

We’ve always loved baseball here at Ivor Andrew, and a big reason why is how creative teams can get with their branding. Clubs at the Major League level are often historic, legendary and largely unchanged, but once you start combing the depths of the minor leagues, some wildly creative gems quickly emerge.

The Rocky Mountain Vibes have a flaming s’more for a mascot. The Rocket City Trash Pandas have an aerospace-loving raccoon. And the Montgomery Biscuits are represented by a literal biscuit, which they gave adorably googly eyes.

Put simply, we wanted in on some of that. So we got to work creating our own creativity-forward baseball team. Here’s the start-to-finish story on how it came to life.

Part 1: Iteration

We mashed our heads together and threw a few handfuls of potential names at the wall. After looking at the list for a bit, a clear frontrunner emerged. It was so clear, in fact, that it was the only name that went to the design team.

Part 2: Design

With the name chosen and a menu of potential tactics on the table, Ivor Andrew designers got to work designing pieces that both worked in concert with the existing Ivor Andrew brand guides and expanded into its own piece.

Part 3: Execution

This wasn’t just a concept on a screen. We brought the Brainstorm to beautiful life, leaning on expert vendors to produce high-quality hats, stickers, pennants—and jerseys are coming soon too. We hope you like the powder blues of the St. Louis Cardinals, because we might be using it as inspiration.

Part 4: The Reminder

Out of all the things we do at Ivor Andrew, brand building is always one of the most fun. Whether your brand is firmly established or you need something created from scratch, we know how to create, launch and grow it like few others do. Talk to us if you could use a brand building partner that knocks it out of the park.
